Medical Assistant (Clinical Services Associate)

The Medical Assistant provides patient-centered care within the Gastroenterology team, supporting physicians and clinic operations. Room patients, review medical history, obtain vital signs, and prepare charts for visits with appropriate EMR updates. Perform specimen collection (including phlebotomy and nasal swabs when applicable), run lab tests, and document results in EMR. Assist with EKGs and minor procedures, maintain sterile technique, and administer medications or vaccines where permitted under supervision. Support care coordination with referrals and preauthorization requirements; conduct follow-up calls and ensure accurate documentation. Maintain infection control, equipment readiness, and a safe, organized clinical environment while adapting to evolving practice needs.
